frequently Asked Questions

What is Remote Monitoring?

Sensors are installed on various types of infrastructure facilities to monitor problematic areas. Data is collected from these sensors and stored in a central location where it can be viewed and analyzed by engineers to determine the health condition of the facility. Based on this analysis, appropriate courses of action can be determined by facility managers.

How is remote monitoring helpful to engineers?

1. Keep an eye on a problem facility while minimizing field visits
2. Provide continuous behavior logs of certain elements of the facility
3. Develop confidence in “life extension” efforts for facilities
    beyond their useful lives
4. Enable the use of sensors which are not feasible if used during inspections
